Forman knighted to Legion of Honour

The Czech-born American director Milos Forman, the author of such films as One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Amadeus, was made a knight of the Legion of Honour, an award he received from the French Culture Minister Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres. The French culture minister called Milos Forman "a master of world cinema". He also said Milos Forman's cinema crossed borders and that Mr Forman was a model for generations of filmmakers.

Birmingham hit by CzechMania

The British public have another chance to see contemporary Czech design. After last year's show in London, the CzechMania exhibition, run by the Czech Centre in London, has moved to Birmingham. In the course of the next two months, Czech photography, interior design, jewellery and film will be displayed at twelve venues around the city. The CzechMania exhibition will later move to other European cities.
