Army active reserves applications increased tenfold since Russian invasion of Ukraine

There has been a tenfold rise in interest among Czechs to serve in the country’s army active reserve forces over the past month, Ludvík Cimburek who serves as an advisor at the army general staff told the Czech News Agency on Tuesday. Nearly 1,400 people have applied for training since mid-February and more than 500 have applied for volunteer training. The Czech Army is therefore increasing its training capacities. The rise in interest to serve is a consequence of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Czech News Agency reports.

There are currently 3,640 men and women serving in the active reserves. The army aims to recruit 1,200 new reservists this year, Mr Cimburek said.
