April became the most tragic month of this year on the roads so far, with traffic accidents claiming forty lives, according to police statistics and information from the Czech News Agency. April also saw the most tragic day of 2025 so far, when seven people died in accidents on April 16th.

The number is higher than in April last year, when thirty-five people died. However, the total number of deaths since the beginning of the year is slightly lower than last year. In 2024, 123 people died in accidents between January and April, while this year totals 117.
