American Hockey League suspends Czech hockey player over racism

The American Hockey League on Friday suspended San Jose Barracuda forward Kryštof Hrabík for 30 games after he made a racist gesture at Boko Imama of the Tucson Roadrunners during a game earlier this month.

The 22-year-old Czech player reportedly made monkey-like movements in the direction of Imama, who is Black, during a game in San Jose, California on January 12.

Hrabík, who has been playing for the San Jose Sharks minor league affiliate, has apologized, said he was "embarrassed by the actions that led to his suspension". He also said he would not appeal the suspension.
