AfD’s Bystroň denies getting cash from Czech-based Russian network

Czech-born German politician Petr Bystroň from the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) has denied claims that he accepted money from a Russian influence network, the DPA agency reported on Thursday. He made the statement in a letter addressed to the party leadership. The information about Mr Bystroň getting cash from the Russians came from the Czech counterintelligence service, which said last week that it had broken up a Russian group seeking to influence European elections and spread anti-Ukraine propaganda.

Mr. Bystroň previously told the Czech News Agency that AfD’s leadership wants to personally explain the whole affair after the Easter break, which ends this week.
