A quarter of Czechs have low reading and problem solving skills

A quarter of Czechs aged 16-65 have very low reading skills, according to an international survey conducted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). According to the results, 25 percent of Czechs have difficulty understanding longer texts or navigating multi-page websites, 29 percent of respondents were found to have low problem-solving skills and about a fifth of Czechs have very low numeracy skills, for instance calculating ratios and percentages. The research involved 29 countries and focused on general information handling and problem solving skills. Adults in Japan and Nordic European countries, such as Finland, Sweden and Norway, fared best.
