838,000 now in priority Covid vaccination group

Some 838,000 people are in the first group that will receive vaccinations for the coronavirus in the Czech Republic, the Czech News Agency reported, citing the new methodology outlined in the government’s vaccination strategy. There were around 210,000 fewer in that category in a previous version of the plan from the start of January.

All medical workers and medical students and volunteers working in hospitals have been added to the priority group, as have staff in the prison service and Ministry of Interior detention centres where Covid-19 outbreaks occur. This group should be offered the jab in the first two months of the year and the target is 70 percent vaccination.
