22 political groupings register for October elections into lower-house

A total of 22 political parties and movements will be running in this year’s October elections into the Chamber of Deputies. The number is roughly the third of the amount of groupings that ran in the previous elections four years ago, according to the Czech News Agency. The deadline for registrations was on Tuesday afternoon.

Voters in Prague will be able to select from 21 political groupings, the largest number on offer in any one region of the country. Meanwhile, the Karlovy Vary, Ústí nad Labem, Liberec and Hradec Králové have the lowest number of registered parties. Their voters will be able to choose from 17 political groupings.

As was expected, all of the parties represented in the Czech lower-house of Parliament will be running in the upcoming elections.
