2024 Club for Old Prague Award given to Brno University extension

The 2024 Club for Old Prague Award for the best new building in a historic environment has been awarded to the Art Studios of the Faculty of Education at Masaryk University in Brno. Designed by architect Michal Palaščák, with Karolína Burešová and Jan Flídr, the project was selected from six finalists.

Built as an extension to a still-operational transformer station, the structure was praised by the club as “an impressive, thoughtful, and elegant building.”

Four of the six finalists were from Moravia. Prague’s nominee was a public garden and cemetery space near the Chapel of St. Wenceslas in Suchdol.
