On May 18th, the first round of voucher privatization began.
Elections to the Chamber of the Deputies (Federal Assembly) were held on June 5th and 6th.
On December 31st at midnight, Czechoslovakia broke up into two independent states - the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic.
In 1992 the domestic music industry began to thrive on all fronts. On June 25th, the premiere of the Czech musical “Les Misérables” was performed at the Na Vinohradech Theater. The Czech lyrics were written by Zdeněk Borovec and it was sung by Helena Vondráčková, Jiří Korn, Karel Černoch and many others.
