Zeman says putsch attempt made against him during hospitalisation

President Miloš Zeman says that events surrounding his hospitalisation in the autumn were an attempt at a putsch. Speaking in an interview for Thursday’s edition of Mladá fronta Dnes Mr. Zeman said he did not rule out taking legal action.

Mr. Zeman said that the Central Military Hospital had asked Senate speaker Miloš Vystrčil not to make public a requested report on the president’s health. However, Mr. Vystrčil had immediately revealed its assessment that Mr. Zeman was incapable of carrying out his role as head of state.

The president said this and other indicators pointed to a definite attempt at a putsch, adding that he was amused by the incompetence of those behind it.
