Volunteers picking up rubbish around Czech Republic within international drive

Volunteers are collecting litter around the Czech Republic on Saturday as part of the international event World CleanUp Day. Teams are picking up rubbish in hundreds of places and will also do so in the coming days, organisers said.

Such clean-up events are normally held in spring but this year were delayed because of the Covid situation. In 2019 150,000 volunteers gathered 2,500 tonnes of waste while last year, when the pandemic had arrived, around a third of that number collected roughly 827 tonnes.
