Two Czech climbers stranded on Rakaposhi mountain rescued by helicopter

Czech climbers, who were stranded on Pakistan’s Rakaposhi Mountain since Friday, have been rescued by the country’s army helicopters.

Climbers Jakub Vlček and Petr Macek and a local mountaineer Wajidullah Nagri were stranded at a height of 6,900 meter after conquering the peak on Friday.

They started descending on Tuesday after receiving food and other items from a helicopter. They were picked up on Wednesday morning at a heigh of 6,000 meters and transported to the town of Gilgit.

The Czechs were reportedly climbing without permits, which had complicated the bureaucracy for rescue operations.
