Tennis: Voráčová joins Djokovic in detention ahead of Australian Open amid Covid vaccine row

Australian authorities have cancelled Czech doubles specialist Renata Voráčová’s visa and placed her in detention, making her the second tennis player after Serbian star Novak Djokovic to be barred from competing in the Australian Open.

Voráčová had entered Melbourne with the same medical exemption for which Djokovic was denied access, having signified that she had recently recovered from Covid-19.

While the world No.1 ranked Djokovic – an anti-vaxxer – opted to appeal his detention, Voráčová decided not to contest the cancellation of her visa and said she will leave Australia.
