Spruce tree for Christmas market in Prague’s Old Town arrives

A nearly 22-metre-high spruce tree, chosen to feature in the centre of this year’s Christmas market on Prague’s Old Town Square, arrived during the night from the town of Pěnčín in northern Bohemia.

City officials chose the spruce over 35 other trees grown in the Jizera Mountains. They said it was remarkable for its shape and full branches.
