Spirits to become 15 to 20 percent more expensive
Spirits distilled from fruits, such as the famous Czech product slivovice (sometimes anglicised as slivovitz), are expected to increase in price by 15 to 20 percent after the new year, the Czech News Agency reported on Sunday. The industry is being heavily affected by rising energy prices, as most distilleries use gas in the production of fruit brandy. In addition, the cost of producing the glass which is used to make bottles for the spirits is also increasing.
