Prague Zoo announces birth of Silvery Gibbon cub, an endangered species

Prague Zoo announced on Monday that a Silvery Gibbon, a highly endangered species, was born in captivity there over the weekend.

According to Prague Zoo director Miroslav Bobek, fours cubs of the species have been born under Czech care, including the latest to a 16-year-old female named Alang Alang.

The Prague troop, led by alpha male Flip of the same age, now has four members, Bobek said. There are fewer than 2,000 adult Silvery Gibbons in the wild.
