Petr Mlsna named new head of anti-monopoly office

After being selected as the government nominee, Petr Mlsna was named the new chairman of the Office for the Protection of Competition by President Milos Zeman on Tuesday. Mr. Mlsna is a former government minister who, until now, served as deputy interior minister. He replaces Petr Rafaj, who served as chairman for 11 years.

The new leader of the anti-monopoly office has said that his primary goal is to return public trust in the institution. He intends to change the method of naming members of remonstrative commissions and “begin a discussion on the reform of two-stage decision-making in the public procurement review”.  He also wants more active discussion with anti-corruption organisations, the public and the media.
