People over 80 registering for vaccine against Covid-19

Close to 117,000 people aged over 80 registered for a vaccine against Covid-19 on Friday, the day the reservation system for this age group was opened.

9,800 of them were also able to book a specific vaccination term. The rest are waiting for vacancies which are dependent on fresh deliveries of the vaccine.

There are over 441,000 people in the over 80 age bracket living in the Czech Republic. Vaccination of those living in care homes is already underway.

The first day of registration was complicated by technical problems, but Health Minister Jan Blatný says he considers the fact that a quarter of those eligible registered on day one a big success.
