Parliament to debate Bečva River poisoning

The parliamentary commission monitoring the investigation of the Bečva River poisoning last September on Friday approved a final report on its findings and asked the speaker of the house to convene an extraordinary session on the issue.

The chairwoman of the commission, Marie Pěnčíková said that following its presentation to deputies of the lower house the document would be published in its entirety so that the public is fully informed.

The matter has evoked public concern, particularly after experts, who had been analysing samples from the river for some time, told the commission that it was practically impossible to determine who was responsible for the leak.
