Old Town Square Christmas tree lit up earlier than initial plan

The traditional Christmas tree on Prague’s Old Town Square was lit up on Friday night. The city’s authorities had planned a rehearsal on Friday ahead of the actual lighting a day later but then decided on the spur of the moment to leave it on.

In any case no public ceremony had been organised in view of the Covid-19 situation. A video recording of the lights on the 17.5m spruce being switched on will be posted online on Sunday.
