Television and radio spots for presidential finalists

Campaign spots for presidential finalists Andrej Babiš and Petr Pavel began airing on Czech Television and Czech Radio on Monday. Each candidate is given a one-hour slot which is free by law. The ads will continue running until Wednesday, January 25 in advance of the second round of the presidential election on Friday and Saturday.

Czech Television started broadcasting the candidates' spots in two-minute blocks from 09:22 on channel 2 and from 09:44 on channel 1. The last public television spots are expected to be broadcast on Wednesday at 12:08 p.m. on channel 2 and at 1:57 p.m. on channel 1. Czech Radio will also broadcast spots on several of its stations over all three days.

However, according to some experts, pubic television and radio spots do not have much influence on the outcome of the vote, with more people reached via social media.
