Report: Czech government wants US ambassador after post empty for year
The Czech government would like Washington to send a new US ambassador to Prague, Seznam Zprávy wrote on Tuesday. The Czech minister of defence, Jana Černochová, told the news site that the Trump administration had ended a year ago and the Biden government had not yet sent a replacement for Stephen King, a Trump appointee who left when Biden was inaugurated.
Ms. Černochová said the failure to fill the position could be a “signal” and that the Czech Republic would deserve a new ambassador.
Tomáš Pojar, an advisor to Prime Minister Petr Fiala on foreign affairs, said that it would certainly be better for relations if the US had an ambassador in Prague and the sooner one was installed the better.
