Wednesday sees easing of coronavirus measures in restaurants, sports and culture sector

The Czech Republic’s counter-epidemic measures are being eased further from this Wednesday. Newly, up to six people will be allowed to sit at one table in restaurants, with further numbers allowed provided that people maintain at least 1.5 meters of social distancing from one another.

Sporting and other associations will newly be required to test their members only once every seven days.

Mass events, currently topped at a maximum allowed capacity of 3,000 people, will be able to accept anyone with either a valid coronavirus test, full vaccination, or proof of recovery from COVID-19 within the past 180 days. However, Health Minister Adam Vojtěch has said that this measure comes with the condition that at least 50 percent of visitors have to fall into one of the three categories.

Meanwhile, zoos, museums, chateaus and galleries are no longer barred from hosting the maximum capacity of visitors (until now the number was capped at 75 percent).

Preventative tests will continue to be free. The government originally planned to end free coverage of antigen and PCR tests for the general public over the age of 18, but has since decided against the change.
