Vít Rakušan re-elected leader of Mayors and Independents

Vít Rakušan was re-elected leader of the Mayors and Independents at a party congress on Tuesday. Mr. Rakušan, who is 43, took 96 percent of the vote in a poll in which there was no other contender. The Mayors and Independents are running in October’s general elections in an alliance with the Pirate Party and Mr. Rakušan said their only target could be victory. Some polls had put the coalition in front, but in recent times they have slipped back.

The freshly elected chairman also told delegates that the Mayors and Independents could obtain further voter support and had not yet reached their full potential.
