Memorial ceremony for Covid victims at Prague Castle
A memorial ceremony for the country’s Covid-19 victims was held at Prague Castle on Monday night. A sea of close to 30,000 candles filled the three castle courtyards as people wound their way through the compound to pay tribute to those who lost the fight with Covid-19.
President Zeman opened the ceremony with his wife and daughter, lighting the first candle and expressing gratitude to those on the front lines who had fought and were still fighting to save every life.
The ceremony was accompanied by live music played by the Prague Castle Band. The Prague Castle compound remained open to the public until midnight.
