Supreme Audit Office uncovers irregularities in construction of cycle paths
The state does not have a proper overview of the length, condition or use of cycle paths for which it has paid, the Supreme Audit Office stated in a report published on Monday. Inspectors also found significant differences in the price of construction.
The Ministry of Transport has rejected the criticism saying the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure monitors the fulfilment of all requirements for the recipients of subsidies, including on-site inspections. It also argues that the difference in prices is understandable in different areas.
Construction of new cycle paths in the years between 2013 and 2020 cost three billion crowns from public funds and EU grants.
