President Zeman on 2014 explosions: I am waiting for undisputable proof
President Miloš Zeman has called for a thorough investigation into the deadly explosions at the arms depot in Vrbětice in 2014, saying that no sovereign country could tolerate having foreign agents undertaking terrorist attacks on its soil.
In his first address to the nation about the revelations which have sparked an unprecedented diplomatic row with Russia, Mr. Zeman said the suspicions are grave and he trusted Czech investigators to get to the bottom of the incident and provide undisputable proof of the involvement of Russian agents into the affair.
The president did not comment on the expulsion of Russian agents from the country or the government’s steps in the matter. Earlier, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš said the head of state fully supported the government’s actions, among them the decision to ban the Russian conglomerate Rosatom from participating in the tender on the expansion of the Dukovany nuclear power plant.
