New British variant of Covid-19 may be present in Czech Republic
There is suspicion that the British variant of the Covid-19 virus may now be present in the Czech Republic as well.
The State Institute of Public Health said test results indicated the possibility that several people in the Czech Republic who tested positive have this new strain of Covid-19.
Further tests on the samples are being conducted and more detail are to be released next week.
While this mutation does not mean a more severe course of the disease for individuals, the authorities fear that its spread could lead to the collapse of the health system.
