    The ninth annual mass drumming session to remember the first Jewish transports from Prague on 16 October, 1941, and to commemorate the civilian victims of the current world conflicts will be held in the Czech capital on Monday.

    The drumming session has been organised by the Memorial of Silence and DOX Centre for Contemporary Art since 2015. This year, it will be led by American percussionist David Nussbaum and the Žižkov music school’s Bigband Plus.

    Czech beach volleyball players Ondřej Perušič and David Schweiner have won the World Beach Volleyball Championships in Tlaxcala, Mexico, marking the best-ever result in Czech beach volleyball history.

    In Sunday’s dramatic three-set battle, the Czech couple defeated the Swedish pair David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig 21:15, 17:21 and 13:13.

    Polish citizens residing in Czechia are voting in the Polish parliamentary elections on Sunday. Voting is taking place at the Polish embassy and the Polish consulate in Prague, as well as in Brno and Ostrava. Voters will be able to cast their ballot until 7 pm on Sunday.

    Polish voters are deciding on the composition of the 460-member Sejm, the lower house of parliament, and the 100-member Senate. They are also taking part in a referendum on migration, the retirement age and other issues organized by the ruling Law and Justice party (PiS).

    According to the latest figures from the Czech Statistics Office, nearly 3,360 Poles have a permanent residence permit in Czechia.

    Czech tennis player Marie Bouzková has secured her fifth WTA doubles title and second in a row at the Korea Open in Seoul, after defeating the Thai duo of Luksika Kumkchum and Peangtarn Plipuech 6-2, 6-1 with her US partner Bethania Mattek-Sands.

    Last week, Bouzková, along with Sara Sorribes Tormo, captured their first WTA 1000 doubles title after defeating Chan Hao-Ching and Giuliana Olmos 3-6, 6-0 in the final of the China Open.

    Dozens of people gathered on top of Prague's Wenceslas Square on Sunday afternoon to take part in a pro-Palestinian demonstration. The event is being monitored by dozens of police officers and municipal officials, who are ready to disperse it in the event of illegal speech or conflict.

    The gathering, criticizing Israel’s retaliatory actions in the Gaza Strip following Hamas attack on the country, is organised by the civic initiative Not in Our Name! - Initiative for a Just Peace in the Middle East.

    Following last weekend’s Hamas-led terrorist attacks on Israel, the Czech Interior Ministry has ordered increased security around the Israeli Embassy and other sites across Czechia as a precautionary measure.

    The 27th Forum 2000 international conference gets underway in Prague on Sunday. This year’s event, which runs until October 17, is subtitled “For a Democratic Word Order” and the debate will focus on how democracies can work together to face common challenges.

    The opening evening at Prague’s Congress Centre will be hosted by Azerbaijani journalist Arzu Geybullaïeva, with speakers including Hoover Institution fellow Larry Diamond and Iranian composer Shahab Tolouie. On Monday there will be a discussion with Czech President Petr Pavel and his Moldovan counterpart Maia Sandu.

    Forum 2000 was founded in 1997 by then president Václav Havel, writer Elie Wiesel and Japanese philanthropist Jóhei Sasakawa. The aim was to provide a platform for personalities from various fields to name and analyse the challenges of the new millennium.

    The couple defeated the American pair of Trevor Crabb and Theodore Brunner 21:15 and 21:12 in Saturday's semi-final. In Sunday’s final, the Czechs will face the Swedish pair David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig.

    Czech Kateřina Siniaková has advanced to the final of the WTA 250 tournament in Hong Kong after defeating Italy's Martina Trevisan 6-4, 6-2 on Saturday.  The Czech world no. 85 will face Canada's Leylah Fernandez in Sunday’s final.

    Meanwhile, her compatriot and regular doubles partner Barbora Krejčíková has advanced to the finals of the WTA 125 tournament in Zhengzhou after defeating Daria Kasatkina of Russia 6-3, 6-0 and will play Zheng Quinwen for her eighth career title.
