New election poll puts ruling ANO party in third place

A new opinion poll carried out by Kantar agency for Czech Television suggests that the coalition of the Pirate Party and Mayors and Independents would win the elections into the Chamber of Deputies with 27 percent of the vote.

The opposition coalition SPOLU, which consists of the Civic Democrats, the Christian Democrats and the TOP 09 party, would finish second with 21.5 percent of the vote. The ruling ANO party led by prime Minisetr Andrej Babiš garnered 21 percent support.

The right-wing Freedom and Direct Democracy party was favoured by 12 percent of respondents, while the Communists received five percent of the vote.

The Social Democrats, the junior party in the current coalition, would not reach the threshold to make the lower house, the survey indicates.  Elections into the lower-house of Parliament are scheduled to take place in October this year.
