National covid risk index falls slightly
The Czech Republic’s national Covid-19 risk index fell slightly from 69 to 68 out of 100 on Tuesday. This places it in the bracket for the fourth of five levels, where it has been for 13 days.
Nevertheless, restrictions corresponding to level five – introduced in late December – remain in place. The government is unwilling to relax them until the number of Covid patients in the country’s hospitals falls below 3,000. Some 5,852 people are currently in hospital with the virus.
Meanwhile the tiered system for setting the Covid risk index is due to be overhauled at the start of next week.
