Memorial ceremony for Covid-19 victims at Prague Castle

A memorial ceremony for victims of the Covid-19 pandemic is being held at Prague Castle, where the castle’s three courtyards are ablaze with close to 30,000 candles, each symbolizing a life lost. Hundreds of people have been winding their way through the courtyard to pay tribute to loved ones.

The Prague Castle compound will remain open until midnight.

To date, 29,711 people have died in the Czech Republic after contracting Covid-19 and more than 1.6 million have tested positive for the disease since last March.
