Ledecká triumphs in season-opening snowboard World Cup event

Czech snowboarder Ester Ledecká has won the opening event of the International Ski Federation Snowboard World Cup in Cortina d'Ampezzo in Italy.

Ledecká, who returned to FIS Snowboard World Cup after a break of 11 months, defeated Germany's Selina Jörg in the women's parallel giant slalom final on Saturday evening.

It is the 19th World Cup victory for the 25-year-old Czech, who also competes in Alpine skiing and has won Olympic gold medals on both skis and the snowboard.
