Jan Kubiš Day held at Panenské Břežany

Crowds of people visited Panenské Břežany near Prague on Saturday for an event named Jan Kubiš Day, marking the 80th anniversary of Operation Anthropoid, in which he played a key role.

The National Oppression and Resistance Memorial welcomed visitors with a military camp and period uniforms display and a rich interactive exhibition, as well as virtual reality technology recreating events surrounding the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich on May 27, 1942. The Nazi governor lived in Panenské Břežany and set off from there on the morning that he was attacked by Kubiš, Jozef Gabčík and others.
