Interest in vaccination soars ahead of tightened restrictions

Long lines are forming outside Prague’s walk-in vaccination centres in Chodov and the Main Railway Station as people scramble to get a vaccine ahead of Monday’s tightened restrictions which amount to a lockdown for unvaccinated persons.

Both vaccination centres say the interest in getting the vaccine is unprecedented and people are waiting in line for several hours to get the jab. Most of those questioned by reporters say it is the pending restrictions that brought them there, rather than the fear of Covid.

So far 6.2 million of the country’s 10.7 million inhabitants have completed their primary inoculation against Covid. Over half a million of them have also received a booster shot.
