Health minister sacks his deputy for unethical conduct

Health Minister Jan Blatný has sacked his deputy, Alena Šteflová, for unethical conduct after it emerged that she and her husband had undergone vaccination against Covid-19 at the State Institute of Public Health, although neither fulfilled the conditions for priority vaccination.

The director of the institute himself resigned last week upon the revelation that the institute had distributed a thousand vaccines among its employees and their relatives. Health Minister Blatný denounced the practice as totally unacceptable.
