Government: Shops can remain open until 9pm starting Wednesday

Shops in the Czech Republic will have to ensure that their capacity is filled by only one person for every 15 square meters of space starting Wednesday, Industry and Trade Minister Karel Havlíček announced on Monday. However, shops will be able to remain open until 9pm, the time when night curfew comes into effect. This will be an extension to the current early closing time which is set at 8pm. Furthermore, the government has agreed that, from Wednesday, funerals, weddings and religious services may take place if attended by groups of no more than 15 individuals.

Health Minister Jan Blatný said that police officers have been instructed to tolerate late shoppers.
