Government asks lower-house to extend state of emergency until December 20
The Czech government has asked the Chamber of Deputies to vote in favour of extending the state of emergency by 30 days until December 30, Prime Minister Andrej Babis told the Czech News Agency on Monday. The state of emergency was put in place on October 5 due to the gravity of the situation in light of the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic. Currently, the state of emergency is set to run out on November 30. The decision is set to be discussed on Thursday.
The state of emergency gives the government extraordinary powers to impose measures in order to tackle the spread and impact of the epidemic.
