Foreign Ministry: record number of Czechs abroad want to vote
Interest among Czech abroad in participating in parliamentary elections is at a record high, according to the Foreign Ministry. A total of 2,418 Czechs have applied for electoral cards, 50 percent more than during the presidential elections three years ago.
In total, Czech embassies and consulates have a list of more than 12,000 voters residing in the individual countries. The greatest number are in London (1,137), followed by Brussels (864) and Sydney (578).
Czechs have been able to vote from abroad since 2002 and the interest grows every year. During the 2018 presidential elections, more than 16,000 votes were cast. The ballots are counted at the of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters under the supervision of the Czech Statistical Office.
