Fastest inflation since 2008 recorded in Czech Republic in December

Inflation in the Czech Republic accelerated in December to reach 6.6 percent year-on-year. The figure for the previous month was 6.0 percent. The last time the country experienced such rapid inflation was in September 2008.

December’s inflation was attributed mainly to fast-rising transport and housing costs.

The average rate of inflation for the whole of 2021 was 3.8 percent. This was also the highest seen since 2008.
