Deputy prime minister: reserves of protective gear sufficient

The Czech Republic currently has a sufficient amount of protective gear needed to handle the coronavirus epidemic, Deputy Prime Minister Karel Havlíček assured the Senate on Thursday.

There are reportedly 72 million face-masks in the country’s state material reserves with a further 13.7 million on the way.

The state has 17 million FFP2 respirators and 45 million pairs of protective gloves.

Each government sector reportedly has a reserve of protective gear to last for two months.

The government was criticized for failing to secure a sufficient amount of protective gear in the first wave of the pandemic.
