Czechs to coordinate response to partial U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan with NATO allies

The Czech Republic will coordinate its response to the possible partial withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan with its NATO allies, Defence Minister Lubomír Metnar said on Wednesday via Twitter.

Metnar was reacting to reports that U.S. President Donald Trump plans by January 15 to reduce the number of American soldiers in the central Asian country to around 2,500 from the current 4,500.

Noting the fight against terrorism remains a priority, Metnar tweeted that NATO allies came to Afghanistan together and would leave it together.
