Czech women climb tennis’s world rankings after goods showings in NY

The Czech Republic’s Karolína Plíšková has climbed from fourth to third in the world rankings after reaching the quarter-finals of the US Open last week. After also reaching that point in the Grand Slam tournament Barbora Krejčíková has moved up from her previous career best ninth place to seventh in the rankings. Their compatriot Petra Kvitová, who was knocked out in the third round in New York, has returned to the top 10.
