Czech and Bulgarian presidents condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine

Bulgaria’s President Rumena Radev met with Czech President Miloš Zeman at Prague Castle on Tuesday while visiting the Czech capital. Both heads of state condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Czech president also voiced his support for Bulgaria’s entry into the Shengen Area, which significantly eases travel through a common visa policy. The two leaders also spoke about energy security. President Radev told journalists after the meeting that Bulgaria will not support the EU’s oil embargo of Russia unless the country gets an exemption.

Bulgaria’s President is also scheduled to meet with Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and members of the Czech Parliament later in the day. An accompanying Bulgarian delegation is also set to attend talks with the Czech industry and transport ministers.
