CT: Over 73,000 Czechs apply for settled status in UK

Over 73,000 Czechs have applied for settled status in the United Kingdom, a government spokesperson told Czech Television. Around 8,000 applications are still being processed. To date over 1,000 have been turned down.

The head of the Czech Community (Česká obec) in the UK, Tomáš Kostečka, told Czech TV that he believed there were around 7,500 Czechs in the country who had not yet applied for settled status, meaning their further stay was in jeopardy.

Great Britain’s Settlement Scheme was created after Brexit to allow EU citizens and their families to remain in the UK.
