Covid numbers drop slightly, but risk index up
The Czech Republic registered 4,025 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, approximately 200 less than on the same day a week ago.
The number of people hospitalized with Covid has dropped by 476 to 5,391, but the risk index has once again risen from 68 to 70 points.
Over 16,000 people have died from Covid or related complications in the Czech Republic since the pandemic started.
The government is particularly concerned about the risk of new mutations spreading.
The British variant has already been confirmed in six regions, although it is not yet spreading by community transmission.
Nevertheless, the government this week enforced measures to further reduce mobility around the country and banned all non-essential travel to the Czech Republic.
