Covid index still down but regional disparities marked

The “score” on the Czech Republic’s national Covid index was 57 on Friday, making it five days in succession that the figure would place the country at level three in the government’s colour-coded PES system. Seven days of numbers below level four should lead to a switch to level three and the reopening of restaurants and shops. However this has been cast into doubt by major regional disparities. The cabinet is due to rule on whether or not to move from level four to three on Sunday.

Some 4,458 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the country on Friday, which was a decline of 1,350 on the same day the previous week.
