Covid-19 reproduction number drops to 0.8

The Covid-19 reproduction number has dropped to 0.8, down from 1.5 in October, according to the Institute for Health Information and Statistics.

0.8 was a target set by the country’s leading epidemiologist and former health minister Roman Prymula as a point from which the enforced restrictions could start to be gradually eased.

The government has already announced that first and second graders will be able to return to school on November 18, and Health Minister Jan Blatný is expected to unveil a timetable for a further easing of restrictions depending on the degree of risk in individual regions on Friday.
