Chip shortage means quarter million fewer cars will be made in CR this year
A lack of computer chips means that the Czech Republic’s automakers will produce more than a quarter of a million cars fewer than planned, the Automotive Industry Association said on Sunday. The shortfall will mean a loss of CZK 200 billion for one of the country’s most important sectors.
In the first three-quarters of this year production was down by 22 percent on the same period in 2019; last year’s numbers were impacted by factories being closed due to the Covid crisis.
